FALLING APART AT THE SEAMS.....

What a week....we took Owen back to Uni, I had a couple of 'interesting' days at my dad's, played with the band twice at the weekend...then had two major power cuts, followed by the water being cut off for 8 hours due to a burst water main and finally our Internet provider cut us off early cos we're switching to another company. Gordon has managed to jack up a temporary connection but I'm not sure if I'll be able to comment. So if you visit me and I don't get back to you, then sincere apologies!  Phew, I'm worn out :-)

Anyhow, you don't want to hear me whinging, so here is the upstairs desk last week...

Bits of fabric and amplifier cables? What?  It's a long story but a friend of mine was trying to cram all those cables into that tiny beige bag, so I said I'd see what I could do.

See, lots of cables...small bag.... doesn't work.....

That's better...no more shoving and squeezing :-)

And this was the yellow flower bag that I showed the making of two weeks ago. It looks a bit wonky in this pic but it isn't really!

Now for yesterday's Downstairs Desk.......  Kyla (Lil Pidge) asked me if we could have a sewing day together for her to make a bag. Of course, no probs...

So I moved everything downstairs, there's more room.  Before Kyla arrived, I made a start on some bunting for my latest great nephew (groan, how old does that make me feel?!) who was born last Sunday...yay, happy dance!

Kyla had brought an interesting selection of fabrics with her, including these fabric swatches which she was soon cutting up and then joining together!

My son Rhys did the honours with the camera....nice pic, girls!

Julia was desperate to draw out this week's Man Bites Dog cards...I think she was startled by the outcome, LOL!

I enjoyed having a riffle through Kyla's gorgeous threads box.....

Kyla did pick a tricky bag to do for her first time but she did brilliantly, was a quick learner and produced a really fab bag!

It was really stunning, great choice of fabrics and colours and looked very professional! You can see that Harry the Cat was impressed, in a feline sort of nonchalant way. *grin*!  We laughed and chatted all day and had a really good time...let's do it again, eh Kyla? Perhaps we can get Julia to show us how to use the automatic buttonholer :-)

I love WOYWW, what a wonderful way to meet creative, fun, interesting and crazy people. Bring it on...!!

THERE IS A HOPE THAT BURNS WITHIN MY HEART,
THAT GIVES ME STRENGTH FOR EVERY PASSING DAY.
(Stuart Townend)

Before I start today, please could you focus your mind, prayers and good wishes on Shaz Silverwolf, who is undergoing the first part of a long schedule of treatment for her cancer this morning.  Positive vibes and good thoughts would be much appreciated right now....... Thank you xxxx

I haven't done much crafting again this week - too many other things to do. But I did start a tote yesterday...not for anyone in particular, I just felt like making it!
I love this fabric - it's so bright and cheerful and you just can't go wrong with a bit of gingham!
The gingham is a furnishing fabric, so it's got a bit more guts than the normal polycottons...
The pocket on the side is divided into two sections for a phone or keys or something....
And any excuse to use a cheerful button, eh?!  I haven't put the sides or handles together yet so will show you the finished article next week :-)

Julia and I went to visit Janet (Fairythoughts) last Friday and she gave me this fab woven tape with a keyboard motif on it!  I was reet chuffed - thanks Janet, it is most definitely going to get used!!

And then on Saturday, I was out playing with the band all day. We were at a small agricultural show attached to a farm shop in the morning. There was a guy there with a large collection of old tools. I love things like this!  He'd labelled them really well and most of them I'd never heard of!  A Strickle. for example.  It's in the pic below.....

Apparently, in the days before sand paper, the workers would cover it in grease and some sort of abrasive like sand and use it to whet the sickles and scythes. Well, I never.  The ram coupler looks a bit dodgy, if you ask me. And the clogmakers gouge looked like something gynaecological..... But my favourite was this.......
The Besom Makers must have been extremely naughty if clamping them was necessary......grin!!

Hopefully, I'll have a bit more crafting next week - but the way the days are filling up, I'm not so sure...sigh......

Have fun everyone - lots of love xxxx

THANK YOU FOR THE DAYS.....

A combination of mad days and being away in Wales to look after my dad has meant no sewing this week.....and therefore no desk. Sorry!   But there's some other stuff should you be interested :-) Do you remember this from last week?

Well, the assorted items got turned into this....

A little clutch bag for a friend whose son is getting married this Saturday...no patterns were involved, I just made it up!

I also made this reversible bandanna bib for a friend's baby boy last week.

But I did a fair bit of crochet while I was away...I'm doing squares for Crochet for Kidneys again.
I've got to make 54 for a blanket and this is the process....6 are going to be blue surrounds and the rest will be in the rainbow colours I've got left over from the last blanket!  The flower square tutorial is on Colour and Cream blog, if you're interested :-)

I came back from Wales to a parcel...inside was a little thank you from Anne (Copper Beech) for the bag she won.....
A gift, a beautiful card and the sweetest papercraft handbag complete with angel charm. I love them, Anne, thank you so much. Your work really is gorgeous, I loved all the lilac tones and bling!!

It was a hard weekend in Wales, my dad isn't doing too well but we had a chance to escape to 'my' beach for an evening walk....

It was a bracing couple of miles but made us feel a lot better blowing away the cobwebs....

And would I pass up a chance to be stupid? No sirree...... :-)

Thanks for bearing with me...hopefully there will be a desk to show you next week!
